Amazon Developing Anticipatory Shipping
When Christmas is around the corner, you know to stock up. It makes a lot of sense. As a seller, you are anticipating the influx of shoppers who will visit your store and potentially purchase your products. You expect to sell more because there are more shoppers. Now Amazon is taking the practice of stocking up to the next level.
Amazon Anticipatory Shipping
Amazon is currently developing a patent pending new application to expedite fulfillment and shipping. As though Amazon isn’t fast enough (right?), they’re aiming to ship to buyers even faster, but how exactly?
By anticipating consumer trends. For example, if there is a particular suburb of Wisconsin that is saturated with carpenters, Amazon is going to ship a surplus of carpentry tools to the fulfillment center closest to that suburb. In other words, Amazon will proactively stock their fulfillment centers with items they anticipate to be needed nearby. By having the inventory even closer geographically should shave off shipping time and accelerate the final stage of delivery for many sellers and convenience shoppers.
Perhaps and understandably, only popular items would be eligible for such ultra-quick shipping at the early going. However, as Amazon continues to flesh things out, expect them to figure out those algorithms which will allow for even select items to reach its final destination sooner.
Shipping to warehouses… in advance… according to market trends… Is it too obvious? Amazon thinks so, too. Get ready to sell more and sell quicker to an ever-growing marketplace that is Amazon.
